In 2014, Find-M' Friends started with a group of friends familiar with the bloodhound breed and their unmatched capabilities for search and rescue. After realizing there was a need for trained scent-discriminating bloodhounds in the country, we began to fund raise. In relatively short order, we were able to purchase and train our first puppies. Further fundraising efforts provided donations focused on building operations and hiring staff. In that same year, Find-M' Friends incorporated and acquired 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
In 2016, Find-M' Friends, Inc. gifted our very first bloodhound, Allie, to the Citrus County Sheriff's Department, and we have since gifted over 60 bloodhounds to law enforcement, and provided training to their K-9 handlers. All of this is provided at no cost to law enforcement or the taxpayer. Also in 2016, we received a donation from the Citrus County Kennel Club, which allowed find-M' Friends to build a much needed dog kennel.
In 2017, we started our scent collection kit program, the "Out of Harms Way" program. We purchase the components for the kits and assemble for distribution. The kits hold a person's pure scent and maintain that uncontaminated scent for over 10 years, this allows law enforcement to utilize a pure scent of the individual missing.
In 2024, we were able to build the "Martha Scherer Complex" from a donation through the Martha Scherer Trust. The complex provides free lodging for the officers in for their 6 weeks of training with their new K-9 partners. The complex is also used for continuing education for K-9 handlers and law enforcement. Find-M' Friends also hosts the annual NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association) bloodhound certifications.
